FREE @ 6pm YAQUI STORIES

 —  —

Sunkist Library , 840 Puente Avenue, La Puente, CA 91746

Martin returns to this library to bring one of his more rare programs, ETEHOI or “Tellings”. This program focuses on the storytelling tradition of the Yaqui people of Sonora, Mexico and Arizona, USA. This is Martin’s mothers side of the family . Yaqui stories, really like any other folk stories, tell of life, family, kindness, friendship, distrust, and the mystical. Enter the crazy characters of the coyote always getting away, and of the deer who sees everything and much more. Martin’s stories come Live with the props that he created and brings: giant cactuses, rattlesnakes and coyotes etc. Martin dresses in the traditional outfit of the deer dancer as well. There will be spots where the audience gets to interact and play this special music. All on Yaqui instruments!!! Come be thrilled at the art of storytelling. This is a rare chance to see Maestro Martin do this.
