These flutes are hand made by me, me, me, Martin Espino, I've been making instruments from Bamboo and Gourd since 1990. I have made over 70,000 instruments since that time, either or sale, many at school residencies and some private sales, but now here are the big ones I make for myself and now you can have one!!! Generally, they are tuned either D above middle C or Eb, they are pentatonic and produce at least 5, sometimes 7 notes, depending on how they want to act. Pentatonic, for those who don't know is the sound you get when you play on the black keys, or the sound of Native American Flutes. The burned etching on the flute is the sacred figure of Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent. They measure about 2 1/2 feet long, and have a fat mellow sound, they do not jump into the next octave, so again, 5 maybe 7 notes, enough to create beautiful sacred sounds of your own! NOTE: I do not always have these in stock as they sell out fast!!! Please allow 2 weeks for delivery, that's if I have to make one for you, otherwise I ship out the same week.

My bamboo is seasoned and feels good. They are engraved and then burned lightly for a wonderful effect and then the engraving is painted in with yellow ocher paint that I make myself. Traditional paint. Instruments play five notes in a very nice owl kind of voice. Very accessible and easy to play. You can use the flute lessons that are posted here in my menu as a guide on how to blow. Or you can call me and I give lessons on all my instruments on Skype or Zoom. You don’t need tons of lessons.

These here are made from gourds and they have a beautiful exotic sound, They are NOT pitched to the pianos/guitars. Easy to play, place on the your lips and exhale lightly!!! Painted with natural pigment paints that I make! The product will vary because the Gourds are not all the same. These are made to order so when you place your order sometimes I have to go out three hours away to pick up the material at a farm.

These flutes are about 8-10 inches long, this is the same flute I make for my Workshops and Residencies with 3rd graders to adults. The flutes have a mellow, not high pitched tone. They produce 5 and sometimes 7 tones. The note they are tuned to varies, because I don't make them to play with guitars and pianos, if you want digital tuning then I have to raise the price by $5.00 These flutes are basically made to play solo or with intimate, mellow percussion as in most indigenous music of the Americas! They are tuned to the pentatonic scale (the formation of the sounds of the black keys on the piano).

This WHISTLE is NOT advisable for preschool age kids. The whistle must always be held with two fingers while playing it. Please note, that when you purchase one of these instruments, that I have to spend time to make these for you individually, so when you order one you have to wait, at least 2 - 3 weeks for me to make it and then mail it; it could sooner though. Sometimes the bodies are made of gourd like this one or of bamboo, it depends on what is available in my workshop or your preference. This is an instrument that was used in ancient Mexico and other countries.

I hand pick your gourd, them cut it, lean it and finally seal it in the traditional way! So, this instrument quite a "Special Order". I also NO LONGER Paint as seen below...traditionally, they are not painted! VAKUVAHE are both ceremonial and Performance instruments. The sound of these is more typical what you hear when you hear the Deer Dances in Mexico. So these are very, very folkloric something they sound great just very much like what you hear if you ever hear a recording of a Deer Dance or Danza del Venado. Well worth the wait, this instrument has a deep resonant tone and includes one (1) Hiponia (corn husked covered) stick. FYI: Shipping is expensive!!!
